Engagement & Impact

Engagement and Impact

Communication, engagement, and knowledge exchange are key outcomes we seek from our research endeavours. Sharing the outcomes and benefits  of research activity beyond academia with wider community and society is crucial to maximise its impact.

At TU Dublin, as a researcher you have access to a range of tools, resources, and support to help you communicate effectively to non-specialists, network with business and industry, collaborators, and identify opportunities for research engagement for societal impact.

With significant expertise in knowledge brokerage, research engagement, and societal impact, the Research Engagement & Impact Office offers you the encouragement and support to engage with stakeholders. The Research Engagement and Impact Office can support TU Dublin researchers in:

  • Developing research engagement as a core part of your practice and engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders on projects for societal benefit.
  • Raising your profile in this area, with the potential to secure mission driven research funding.
  • Improving dialogue with the public relating to your research and its impact, including influencing policy makers to effect meaningful change.
  • Planning for impact, for grant applications, as well as realising impact across the lifecycle of your research project'
  • Promoting and communicating your research outputs to stakeholders demonstrating the positive impact of your research.

We can also support community, statutory and industry partners to make connections with TU Dublin researchers for engaged research to address societal challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
