There’s growing demand for engineers with expertise in automation, control, programming and integration with computer technology. Automation engineers use robotic and sensor technology along with specialised software to programme intelligent machines and devices. This programme was launched in response to the demand from industry.

In the first three years of the programme, you’ll develop core mechanical engineering skills in modules such as Electrical Circuits, Engineering Graphics, Materials and Processes, Solid Modelling, Thermodynamics, and Instrumentation. In Year 4, you’ll specialise in automation, control, programming and integration with computer technology. Hands-on learning using the latest robotics and vision technology is a key part of the programme.

Automation engineers, with strong core mechanical engineering skills, are highly sought after in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, food & beverage, and semiconductor manufacturing sector.
