Hugh took up the position of Analytical Services/Consultancy manager in August 2024. He is a detail-oriented professional with over thirty years of experience in chemical, environmental, pharmaceutical and analytical techniques.

• Analytical Services & Research Officer to Industrial Liaison services  with CASH and MiCRA in TU Dublin Tallaght.

  Developed and provided high-quality contract research and analytical services to Institute partners and clients.  
• Over twenty years of part-time lecturing in TU Dublin for the pharmaceutical and environmental industries in: 
  • Measurement science & calibration
  • Environmental technology
  • Science and management
  • Pharmaceutical science and chemistry.  

• Research-related activities in atmospheric chemistry and halogens in the marine boundary layer.
• Molecular modelling and simulation of binding mechanisms of calixarenes.
• Investigation of heavy metal deposition in freshwater environments, water pollution.
• Renewable and alternative energy.
• Sustainability, and carbon reduction.
• Current interest is the development of novel hydrogels and their application as sensors in wastewater monitoring.
