Dr Luke McGuigan joined TU Dublin as a full-time lecturer in 2016. Prior to this, he was a recipient of the Irish research Council EMBARK post graduate scholarship award and completed his PhD in 2016. Dr McGuigan’ s research focused on Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) adaptation during chronic infection in addition to the host immune response to LPS. Prior to completing his PhD, Dr McGuigan worked for two prominent Pharmaceutical companies in Ireland. He is currently co-supervising two PhD students and plans to form an official research group with his research partner Dr Denise Cornally. The research group is focusing on the discrimination of low-risk and high-risk Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) types. Moreover, the research group is investigating the host response to HPV to better elucidate the link between high-risk HPV and cervical cancer progression.
