Lecturer at the Department of Applied Science, TU Dublin, Tallaght campus; 2014- present. She completed her PhD in 1998 in University College Dublin under the supervision of Dr Philip Newsholme. Following this she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) and Health Canada, investigating the dietary effects of food on pancreatic beta cells and gut inflammation. In 2008 she secured a SFI funded Stokes Lectureship enabling her to continue investigating the virulence of bacterial CF pathogens, in particular antibiotic resistance mechanisms of bacterial biofilms. In TU Dublin, she has supervised 6 PhD and MSc students to completion.
