Dr Adrienne Fleming is a lecturer and Researcher in TU Dublin.  She also holds a position of Business Development Partner in the Office of Business and Industry within the University. She received a first class Honours degree in Chemistry and her PhD in Organic Chemistry, from University College Galway, with a research thesis entitled “Studies on the Higher Azole Series: An NMR Exploration of Structure and Degradation Reactions of 1-Arylpentazoles.  New Tetrazolophane macrocycles.  Reaction and Degradations of substituted Tetrazoles and tetrazolium salts.” Following her PhD, she held lecturing positions in Athlone Institute of Technology and University of Limerick. 

Adrienne previously held industrial positions in Merck, Sharpe and Dohme and Bristol Myers Squibb and worked as a Forensic Scientist in the Forensics Laboratory, Department of Justice. She has over 20 years’ experience in lecturing.  She has a research group with masters and doctoral degree students working on projects in areas such as heterocyclic chemistry with applications as potential antimicrobials, medical device coatings, and macromolecules acting as potential scavengers.  Adrienne has extensive teaching in organic chemistry, pharmaceutical manufacturing in both API and formulations.  Adrienne is active in research in teaching and learning in the areas of technology enhanced learning including the use of AR/VR in teaching.

Adrienne has many collaborative links with the major Pharmaceutical / bio-Pharmaceutical companies working closely with them on their training / education projects.  Adrienne has recently qualified as a Lead Auditor (QMS) for the medical device industry.  She currently leads the membership committee for the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering for the Irish Affiliate of the ISPE.

Macromolecules, Heterocyclic Chemistry Azole chemistry; Anti-microbials. Medical Device coating applications.
