Noel Fitzpatrick (doc ès lettres, Paris VII) is Professor of Philosophy and is Dean of the Graduate School of Creative Arts and Media (GradCAM) at the Technological University Dublin. He is also Academic Lead of the European Culture and Technology Laboratory (ECT Lab+) at the European University of Technology (EUt+). Professor Fitzpatrick is a Marie-Curie Senior Research fellow. He teaches philosophy and aesthetics, and supervises Post-Doc, PhD, MPhil and MA students at the Technological University Dublin. He also gives doctoral seminars on phenomenology, hermeneutics and philosophy of technology at the Graduate School. He is a member of Friends of the Greta Thunberg Generation (previously Ars Industrialis, founded by Bernard Stiegler) and is a founding member of the Digital Studies Network at the l’Institut de recherche et innovation (IRI) at the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
He has presented and published widely in the fields of contemporary philosophy, philosophy of art, theatre studies and philosophy of technology. He has also co-curated exhibitions at the Research Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2017, 2019), Guayaquil and Galapagos Islands (2019) and is Lead Principal Investigator on European research projects Marie-Curie RISE, Real Smart Cities Realsms.eu (2017-2022), Networking Ecologically Smart Territories (NesT) 2021-2024, and EThiCO Ethics and Sustainability in Technological Education (Erasmus Plus KA203). Noel is also funded investigator ADAPT SFI Centre in the Area of Trustworhy AI and Ethics of AI.
