Dr. Denise O’Leary is Head of School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology in TU Dublin and formerly an Assistant Head in the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism. Before joining TU Dublin (then DIT) she worked as a manager, lecturer and researcher in third level institutions in Ireland and the United States including UCD, Tulane University and Oregon Health Sciences University.  She also worked for over ten years as a research/management consultant in the private sector.

She is an active researcher and has worked with practitioners from across diverse sectors, using action research and action learning in organisation development and inter-organisational collaboration. She is also the Irish lead for the NTG alliance, a European-wide and European Commission-funded initiative which includes education providers, industry providers and policy makers, which is focused on addressing skills needs and shaping European policy on skills development in the food and drink, accommodation and visitor attraction sectors.  She is currently an editorial board member and reviewer for various journals and a steering board member of Action Research Group Ireland. Previously, she acted as Scientific Chair of the EuroCHRIE conference and Action Research Colloquium and has been an invited speaker and rapporteur at a number of national and international seminars and events.
