Novel alcohol dehydrogenase activation by the choline component of Deep Eutectic Solvents

In this study, we explored the influence of individual components on the activity of horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase (HLADH). Our findings reveal that the effect of DES at low inclusion levels is primarily due to its individual components. This work contributes to the growing interest in ADH activators, which play a crucial role in mitigating alcohol-related liver diseases. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first physiological compound known to non-covalently activate HLADH.
