Sandra Cruz is a PhD student at Technological University Dublin. Her main research interests are in higher education, collaborative learning strategies, and women in STEM. She is particularly interested in issues concerning inequality and intersectionality in engineering education. Her research methods are based on phenomenological analysis.

Sandra studied sociology at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and then completed a MSc in Rural Development at Ghent University (Belgium) and at Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), as a joint degree in the framework of the European Erasmus Mundus Programme.  After graduating in 2013, she has worked as a consultant for international organizations such as Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Economic Commission for Latin American and the Caribbean of the United Nations (ECLAC) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP), specializing in policy monitoring and evaluation, cooperation for development, social analysis, and qualitative methods in projects for Mexico and Latin America.
