Postdoctoral Fellow
Email: abel.zandamela@tudublin.ie
Abel received his BE degree in Information Engineering from South China University of Technology (SCUT) in 2017, and his M.Eng. in Electrical and Software Systems Engineering from the Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS), King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) in 2019.
In 2018 – 2020 he studied at the Institute of High Frequency Technology (IHF) of RWTH Aachen University, Germany, working on compact pattern reconfigurable antennas, antenna miniaturization, leaky-wave antennas and dielectric image lines. The visit was funded by DAAD scholarship.
Abel received is PhD in 2024 from Trinity College Dublin (Dissertation: “Compact Beamforming Antennas for IoT-Enabled Directional Modulation and Localization”), within the Wireless Engineering and Complexity Science (WhyCOM), CONNECT Centre. The work was funded by Science Foundation Ireland through the project “Wireless Physical Layer Cryptography for Post-Quantum Internet of Things using Antenna-Channel Interaction”.
Currently, Abel is investigating electrically small antennas with reconfigurable properties for implantable medical devices. His research interests include: wireless physical-layer security, antenna measurements, nearfield communication, IoT localization, antenna miniaturization, leaky-wave antennas, MIMO communications.
