Job Description
The AIB Research Centre in Equitable and Inclusive Cultures (RINCE) at the TU Dublin’s EDI Directorate is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Assistant on a short-term full-time basis (8 months). The successful candidate will join the TU Dublin team of the European project RESISTIRÉ (Responding to outbreaks through co-creative sustainable inclusive equality strategies), funded by the European Commission’s H2020 programme. The aim of RESISTIRÉ is to: 1) understand the impact of COVID-19 policy responses on behavioural, social and economic inequalities in the EU27, Serbia, Turkey and the UK on the basis of a conceptual gender+ framework, and 2) design, devise and pilot policy solutions and social innovations to be deployed by policymakers, stakeholders and actors in different policy domains.
The appointee will work closely with the project team leader, Dr. Alicja Bobek, and PI Dr. Sara Clavero. The purpose of the role is to assist the team in the following activities:
- Mapping and analysing Covid-19 pandemic and pandemic recovery and resilience data, policies and civil society responses in Ireland
- Organising interviews and workshops with civil society experts on the gender+ impacts of Covid-19 and “better stories” (best practice)
- Collecting individual narratives through interviews with RESISTIRÉ’s target groups
- Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of pilot projects
- Participating in collaborative Open Studios with policy makers and stakeholders with the aim to reshape policy.
- Contributing to the drafting of reports, journal publications, conference papers and other project dissemination activities
- Contributing to other RINCE’s activities as required
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree or above in a social science or cognate discipline, with at least two years of research experience in the public of private sectors. The candidate must demonstrate the appropriate mix of experience, skills, and abilities as outlined below:
- Two years’ research experience at a post-Master level (essential)
- Knowledge and expertise in the field of gender equality, diversity and/or intersectionality (essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (essential)
- Competence in methods of qualitative data collection and analysis (essential)
- Ability to work to tight deadlines (essential)
- Experience in working with corporate, national, international or non- governmental organisations (essential)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team
Terms and conditions of employment
This is a temporary, full-time post, offered on a specified purpose basis, with an estimated duration of 8 months.
The salary for this post is at point (01) of the Senior Research Assistant B salary scale i.e. €36,366 gross per annum subject to qualification and experience. Details in relation to SALARY SCALES together with university policies in relation to STARTING SALARY can be found on our website.
Hours of work: 37 hours per week
