Ms Luana Carnaval earned her Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (Brazil) in 2019 and graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s in industrial chemistry from the Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil). During her undergraduate studies, she participated as an international engineering student in an Exchange Academic Program at The University of Alabama (USA) from 2014 to 2015. In addition, as a master’s degree student, she developed a project on nanoparticles and bioactive compounds for agri-food industry applications, through international cooperation with the University of Florence (Italy) in 2018. Luana is working in the area of Edible coating of Fruits and vegetables. Throughout her professional career, she has acquired research experience on active films and coatings, biopolymers, sustainable materials from low-cost renewable sources, and waste valorisation.
