Arpad has been conducting research in the field of social psychology for several years, receiving his bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology at Eotvos Lorand University (ELTE) in Budapest. In 2019 he completed a 1-year internship at the University of Limerick (UL) and has collaborated with them as a visiting researcher since 2020, being a member and former coordinator of the Migration and Diversity Research Lab in the Department of Psychology.
Arpad's research interests include collective action and allyship, intercultural communication, and perspective taking and empathy in intergroup relations.
His current project aims to find the perceived barriers and enablers to participation in the Irish education system for caregivers and pupils who are refugees. The project is based on a participatory research design whereby parents, teachers, and, in particular, children will be co-researchers in developing tailored support packages to ensure that primary school pupils in Ireland who are refugees or asylum seekers are enabled to reach their maximum educational potential.
