Research Expertise - Mindfulness

Maria is an experienced educator who has taught at all levels of education, and currently lectures Arts Education and Spanish at TU Dublin, Blanchardstown Campus. She has extensive experience working with young learners and has delivered Drama in Education projects in several Dublin primary schools and facilitated early childhood literacy projects in County Kildare libraries. 

Maria is a certified mindfulness teacher and a member of the Mindfulness Teachers Association of Ireland.  She has piloted several studies examining the impact of mindfulness on educational attainment and wellbeing for students in Third Level Education, and is currently pursuing a PhD in TU Dublin on Mindfulness and Relationality.  

Her Masters in Political Science from University of London had particular focus on Agosto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed and Paolo Freire’s Liberation Theology. She believes in the power of education to transform lives, particularly in marginalized and disadvantaged communities.
