I began lecturing almost twenty five years ago and I have been greatly fulfilled by my career to date.  In order to combine my dual interests in teaching and in research, I have pursued a research agenda focused on the area of applied education.  My doctoral research was in the field of emotional intelligence (EI), which examined barriers to student engagement with EI coaching.  I am an experienced research manager and am heavily involved with postgraduate supervision and mentoring early stage researchers.  I am currently acting as principal investigator for a number of projects in the fields of EI, wellbeing and education.  However, I am interested in all aspects of educational and psychological theory and research.  I am always interested and willing to hear from researchers, students or organisations who are interested in my work or may wish to collaborate on future research projects. Publications include the book, The Emotionally Intelligent College, and many peer-reviewed articles.
