PhD research student funded as part of the ‘ARISE’ scholarship programme, which aims to develop the relationship between academia and enterprise. 8 years clinical experience as an Optometrist and 2 years spent in a start up Gene Therapy facility focusing on the treatment of rare forms of inherited retinal diseases in process development. As part of PhD, currently investigating the effect of genetic variation in carotenoid binding transport proteins on the accumulation of macular pigment in the eye. Also involved with TU Dublin School of Physics, Clinical and Optometric Sciences as a part time assistant lecturer.
