Dr. Luis Miralles is an Academic Co-supervisor and Machine Learning Advisor for the N-light project. His research journey began with a PhD in 2012 at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Murcia, Spain, where he developed innovative approaches to online advertising. Drawing from his prior experience in web design and search engine optimization (SEO), he leveraged machine learning (ML) techniques to address challenges in the online advertising domain. His doctoral work led to numerous publications in applying ML to online advertising, along with key contributions to Human Activity Recognition research.
After completing his PhD, Dr. Miralles joined CeADAR, the Centre for Applied AI at University College Dublin (UCD), as a Postdoctoral Researcher. 

During his time there, he presented at a Digital Forensics conference, supervised a student who won the Best Student Paper award, and published papers on predictive maintenance, particularly in valve failure prediction.His diverse research portfolio includes applying Reinforcement Learning to manage COVID-19 containment strategies, balancing public health with economic impacts. At Technological University Dublin, Dr. Miralles has co-supervised a PhD thesis on Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) and another on improving web accessibility using ML and Reinforcement Learning.

Dr. Miralles’ research interests include COVID-19 modeling with ML, online advertising, web accessibility, Human Activity Recognition, Digital Forensics, Zero-Shot Learning, and predictive maintenance using time series. His extensive supervisory experience and expertise make him a valuable contributor to advancing Machine Learning applications across multiple domains.
