Systematic Literature Reviews Workshop Empowers TU Dublin Researchers
Starting a research project from scratch can be a daunting task, but for 25 TU Dublin researchers, a recent Systematic Literature Review (SLR) Workshop provided a structured and engaging approach to tackling this challenge.
Led by Dr Lynn van den Broeck and Rani Dujardin from KU Leuven, the workshop offered an interactive learning experience designed to enhance participants’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in conducting a Systematic Literature Review. Using active learning techniques, the facilitators guided attendees through a step-by-step methodological process, ensuring they could navigate literature with precision and rigor.
Dr Van den Broeck and Ms. Dujardin are Engineering Education Researchers in the ETHER (Engineering Technology Education Research) Group at KU Leuven. They are currently collaborating with TU Dublin researchers on two Erasmus+ projects:
- TRAINengPDP, which focuses on interventions to enhance students’ lifelong learning competencies.
- In-4-STEM, a project aimed at supporting the academic and social integration of first-year students.
One attendee reflected on the impact of the workshop, stating:
Sometimes I just follow the literature where it brings me and worry that I’ve missed key papers. But having a methodological, step-by-step guide like PRISMA makes me feel much more confident that I have a solid grasp of the literature in my area.
The event was hosted by the CREATE Research Group and BERIC Research Centre, part of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at TU Dublin.
