Research Engagement Award Winner - Dr Susan McKeever

TU Dublin celebrated excellence in Research and Innovation at the inaugural awards ceremony held last November, 2023 recognising the incredible impact of the university’s research and innovation community.

Winner of the 'Research Engagement,' Award is Dr. Susan McKeever; Head of Discipline for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at TU Dublin Faculty of Computing, Digital and Data.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunications and Micro-Electronic) from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in IT for Strategic Management from TU Dublin. She received her PhD from UCD in 2011. Her main research areas are in the area of machine learning including deep learning, activity recognition, text mining, evidence theory and the general domain area of data analytics.  Susan is also a collaborator in the CeADAR research group ( Centre for Applied Data Analytics). CeADAR work with industry to bring data analytics in to address real world business and future business problems. Prior to joining TU Dublin, Susan worked in IT sector, including Accenture as an IT Consultant, and as a contract project manager.  

Current research projects include: Determining how to detect and automatically moderate and analyse content in social media – including abusive text and automated video analysis and Examining how best to detect and track the health and well being of elderly people at home, through the use of activity monitoring.

Join Susan below for Safer Internet Day 2024 and learn how the ongoing NLight project funded via the End Violence Partnership and the Technology Coalition, co-led by Dr. Christina Thorpe and supported by the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) and Hotline.ie, is researching safeguards and prevention methods to enable a safer digital future for all children and young people and lead to the recent Award Win in TU Dublin.
