New Initiative at TU Dublin: Greenhouse for Engaged Research in Education (GERE)
TU Dublin is launching an exciting new initiative aimed at fostering collaboration between lecturers and external stakeholders to enhance teaching and research outcomes. The Greenhouse for Engaged Research in Education (GERE) is designed to support lecturers who are engaging with external partners in their teaching activities and wish to evaluate the impact of this engagement through engaged research.
The GERE initiative is a collaboration between TU Dublin's Engaged Research Network and the Learning, Teaching, and Assessment team. It aims to encourage lecturers to co-produce meaningful research outputs with external partners, such as industry or community organisations. These collaborative projects could lead to the creation of conference posters, webinars, articles, or other research-based outputs that showcase the positive impact of external engagement on education.
To kick off the program, GERE will host an online ‘warm-up’ session from 1-2 pm on Monday, February 24th. This introductory session will provide an overview of the initiative and offer lecturers the chance to learn more about how they can integrate engaged research into their teaching practices. Following this session, a more in-depth ‘Get into GERE’ event will be held later in semester 2 to help participants develop detailed research plans in collaboration with their external partners.
One of the key benefits of joining GERE is the opportunity to connect with other educators engaged in similar work. The initiative also offers networking opportunities where lecturers can exchange ideas, gain feedback, and form valuable partnerships that will help elevate their engaged research and teaching strategies.
Lecturers interested in participating are encouraged to book their place before the closing date on February 14th. To secure a spot, participants can register through the online booking platform.
For more information or if you have any questions, lecturers can reach out to Catherine Bates at catherine.bates@tudublin.ie.
The Greenhouse for Engaged Research in Education promises to be a transformative opportunity for educators at TU Dublin, helping them build stronger ties with external partners and create research outputs that reflect the growing intersection between teaching, learning, research and community engagement.
