Background

Sorcha is a Consultancy Manager specializing in business development with micro-businesses and SMEs for TU Dublin Innovation. She joined the team in 2023 coming from programme management with TU Dublin Enterprise Academy. Previously, Sorcha was an Academic Associate at the University of Kansas (KU) a public research university with significant standing in Research and Industry (R&I) awards. Sorcha gained significant commercial, interdisciplinary and knowledge transfer expertise at KU’s National Science Foundation (NSF) climate crisis research centre (www.cresis.ku.edu). She was a member of KU’s NASA’s Operation Ice Bridge team, managing polar deployments of international researchers, grant reporting and logistics operations for military-grade, highly controlled research technologies involved in Arctic and Antarctic ice sheet analysis. She co-directed International Glaciological Society (IGS) and IEEE conferences, curated multiple knowledge transfer exhibitions and coordinated fund-raising outreach activities for the University Research Museums. Sorcha also co-developed one of the first online post-graduate Leadership in Special & Inclusive Education programme in the United States. She has extensive expertise in applied EDI law and practices as a former scholarship PhD student specialising the US School-to-Prison-Pipeline, based on her five years as a private hearing Moderator and Director of a US Juvenile Justice district court review board. An Irish RADHARC scholarship recipient, Sorcha is also a qualitative researcher. She has co-authored papers and chaired conferences at the European Educational Researchers Conference and the American Educational Researchers Association. She is a member of TU Dublin’s Engaged Research Network and Women Leaders in Higher Education (WLHE).
