Library Services Training the Next Generation of Researchers at Graduate Training Week 2025
TU Dublin has three graduate training weeks every year, and Library Services is always strongly represented across the week, offering support to students throughout their PhD on a range of topics.
January’s training week runs from 21 to 24 January, and the schedule includes:
· Research Support Librarian Róisín Guilfoyle is providing an introduction to Library Services as part of the induction for first-year PhD students on Tuesday, 21 January.
· On Wednesday, 22 January, Aisling Coyne, Open Scholarship Librarian, will take 3rd and 4th-year students through Working in an Open Research Environment, an intensive session that explains all aspects of open scholarship and adopting open practice.
· On Thursday, 23 January, 2nd and 3rd year students will have a full day of Information Management, including responsible use of AI and developing a current awareness strategy, from Research Support Librarian Róisín Guilfoyle and Faculty Liaison Librarian Julie de Foubert, before closing out the day with an Introduction to Data Management from Data Librarian Gerard Connolly.
· Also, on Thursday, Library Services will be represented on a panel discussion, ‘Getting Published’ with academic leaders from TU Dublin.
· On Friday, 24 January, Aisling will introduce 2nd and 3rd year students to Open Scholarship and Open Research, and Gerard will present resources and practical exercises for Active Data Management.
· Planning your research impact and disseminating your research is vital. Aoife Quinn Hegarty, Research Indicators Librarian, will outline How to Write a Narrative CV and Responsible Use of Metrics to final year students on Friday 24
