The Disability Support Services is seeking to appoint a UX Designer on a fixed term (2 months – 10hrs week) specified purpose basis. The post holder will be required to work on a Sensory Evaluation Tool Project funded through the Fund for Students with Disabilities (FSD).
Principal Accountabilities
To design software and a suitable web platform that meet the needs of the user.
To combine interfaces and workflows to enhance the users experience
Review design and development work against accessibility standards, making actionable recommendations.
Contribute to write up of report to HEA.
Manage time effectively to meet the deliverables of the project.
Work closely with staff from TU Dublin and Trinity College Disability Support Services.
Actively comply with all TU Dublin policies and regulations, including those in relation to Research Ethics and GDPR.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities as outlined below:
Knowledge
Degree on Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors Ergonomics or related field (Essential)
Knowledge experience of inclusive design and accessibility standards (Essential)
Proven track record of inclusive design best practices - understanding and commitment to web accessibility. (Desirable)
Profound understanding of UX Design best practices and models (Desirable) Candidates need to be analytical and creative and able to grasp user needs and solve problems. Ultimately, you will make the product more user-friendly, accessible and intuitive to attract usage.
The successful candidate should have appropriate report writing skills, basic statistics and possess computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Experience
It is desirable that the successful candidate will have hands on experience in;
Design of graphical interfaces or websites
Leading projects in the strategic phase - defining requirements, gathering generative data, and connecting with customer needs
Experience with CMS platforms, preferably Wordpress
Ability to modify pre-defined CSS and HTML code to comply with accessibility regulations Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture.

IT skills and other related software and preparation of web-based material.

Salary
The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary aligned at Point (01) of the Post Doc Researcher salary scale i.e. €41,025 gross per annum. (Position is for 2 months – 10 hrs per week)
