Celebrating Excellence: Ben Rawlins and TU Dublin's Grammy-Worthy Facilities

Published: 14 Feb, 2025

We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our very own Ben Rawlins, a respected recording engineer at TU Dublin. Ben gives technical support and workshops in "Technology in Music" module on our East Quad programmes and records recitals and concerts here at the TU Dublin Conservatoire.

Ben's exceptional talent and dedication have once again brought international recognition to our university. Ben Rawlins, who has been with TU Dublin Conservatoire since 1999, won a Grammy Award in 2022 for his work on Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi's album "They're Calling Me Home," which took home the Best Folk Album award.

Grammy Nominated Song recorded on Campus

This year, Ben collaborated again with Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi on the powerful song "The Ballad of Sally Anne," which was recorded right here at TU Dublin. The song was nominated for a Grammy, showcasing the world-class capabilities of our recording studios. Our university is proud to have state-of-the-art recording facilities that enable artists like Ben to produce Grammy-worthy music.  These facilities are not only a resource for our staff but also for our students, who have the opportunity to learn and create in a professional setting.

Speaking about working with Rhiannon Ben said:

So pleased to have recorded the Grammy nominated song "The Ballad of Sally Anne" with Rhiannon and Franceso, right here in TU Dublins Grangegorman Campus in the vibrant heart of Stoneybatter.

The song is available to download on Spotify and you can watch the video on YouTube.
