Published: 15 Oct, 2024

What are your summer 2025 plans?

BMus (Bachelor of Music) student, Molly Gordon Boles, spent 8 weeks of her 2024 summer in Washington DC where she completed a work placement with a Congressman on Capitol Hill, attended high profile speaker sessions, service visits and diplomatic events. Molly's trip was fully funded thanks to the Washington Ireland Program.

About the Programme:

The Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership brings university and college students from Northern Ireland and Ireland to Washington D.C for an 8 week personal and professional development program.

The student leaders come from all backgrounds and offer different perspectives and innovative approaches to improving the island of Ireland. The successful students are provided with an exclusive work placement related to their area of study or interest, in addition to leadership development training, speaker sessions with world leaders across the public and private sectors and visits to community
organisations tackling social issues in the US.

Notable alumni include former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the current Deputy First Minister Emma Little Pengelly.
