TU Dublin Students Awarded at the Smarter Travel Awards 2024
TU Dublin students dominated the finalist boards at the Smarter Travel Awards 2024 which took place on Thursday, 25 April 2024, at an event at the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin 7.
The annual event saw 240 finalists out of over 500 participants from partners on the Smarter Travel programme. Seventy-six projects were presented that encourage, support and enable sustainable and active travel on the commute to campus and beyond.
Four students from the School of Marketing & Entrepreneurship won a first place award in a main category, and eight students claimed a second and third place award. Sixty-six students from the same school were finalists in four sub-categories.
Under the Social Marketing category, TU Dublin students Hannah Joyce, Grace Cotter, Lauren Doyle, and Niamh Donaghue, claimed the Marketing & Communications award with their winning project ‘Bike Share’.
Yelyzaveta Tesolkina, Ariana Bisikirskaite, Shane Mulvany, and Sean Walsh were awarded second place in the Advocacy and Programmes Category for their project 'Paw Step', and Jessie Leonard, Lilly O Shaughnessy, Amy Murphy, Ryan McNamee, and Faye O Neill were awarded third place in the Social Marketing category for their project 'Student Carpool Karaoke'.

In recognition of incorporating active and sustainable travel projects into course modules, Faculty of Business lectures, Hilda Burton and Deirdre Treacy were awarded a Lecturer Recognition Award.
TU Dublin is a Campus Partner with Transport for Ireland’s Smarter Travel for Campuses programme. TU Dublin works with Transport for Ireland to implement voluntary travel plans to promote and encourage students and staff to travel to campus sustainably and actively.
