TU Dublin celebrates new Teeling Scholarship aimed to recognise excellence in Tourism and the Brewing and Distilling
TU Dublin Foundation were delighted to launch the inaugural Teeling Whiskey ‘Phoenix Rising’ Scholarship Programme in February 2024. The Scholarship aimed to recognise students who would make their mark in the Tourism sector, and the Brewing and Distilling sector.

Teeling is providing an incredible opportunity for TU Dublin students, not only by alleviating financial pressures, but by presenting fantastic opportunities to network and take advantage of invaluable industry experience
Jack Lynch and Lucy Phelan from Tourism, and James Brady from The School of Food Science were awarded the Scholarships which will support them for the duration of their studies.
On Thursday 4th April, the students, along with Peter Griffin, Head of Discipline for Tourism, Events, Sports and Leisure in TU Dublin, visited the Teeling Brewery in the Liberties to celebrate the awards and to tour the facilities. The students had the opportunity to meet with Jack Teeling, Founder & Managing Director at Teeling Whiskey Company and Stephen Teeling, Sales and Marketing Director at Teeling Whiskey Company.

We are extremely proud to announce our new Teeling Whiskey Phoenix Rising scholarship programme in conjunction with TU Dublin. Education is the cornerstone of progress, and through these scholarships, Teeling Whiskey aim to support and inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators in the Irish brewing, distilling and hospitality industry
Studying Food Science at TU Dublin involves chemistry, biology, nutrition, microbiology and engineering. Food scientists are interested in the design and development of healthy, safe, nutritious and sustainable foods, and study in state-of-the-art labs at TU Dublin’s Grangegorman campus. In the final year of TU Dublin’s programme, students select from one of two streams (i) Food (ii) Brewing and Distilling.
The brewing and distilling module provides students with the knowledge and practical skills of alcohol beverage technology and production, describing and demonstrating the process of brewing of beers, wine, cider & spirits production and distillation. It develops the theoretical knowledge base in the field of fermentation and distillation that will be underpinned with hands on technical experience and skills development both in the laboratory and industrial setting.
