TU Dublin Students Awarded at the Smarter Travel Awards 2023
TU Dublin students dominated the finalist boards at the Smarter Travel Awards 2023, which took place on Thursday, 27 April 2023, at an event at the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin 7.
The annual event saw 156 finalists from partners on the Smarter Travel programme present 63 projects that encourage, support and enable sustainable and active travel on the commute to campus and beyond.
Two students from the School of Marketing & Entrepreneurship won a main category award, and thirty students from the School of Marketing & Entrepreneurship were finalists in five sub-categories. Click on the student names in the table below to view the projects.
Under the Marketing & Communications category, Philip Maguire claimed the Programmes & Advocacy award with his winning project ‘Leap Further’, and Niamh Murray claimed the Social Marketing award with her winning project ‘Fuel Up With Friends.

In recognition of incorporating active and sustainable travel projects into course modules, Faculty of Business lectures, Dr Róisín Vize and Hilda Burton were awarded a Lecturer Recognition Award.
TU Dublin is a Campus Partner with Transport for Ireland’s Smarter Travel Campus Programme. TU Dublin works with Transport for Ireland to implement voluntary travel plans to promote and encourage students and staff to travel to campus sustainably and actively.
