Top 5 things to make the most of your Spring Open Day in Grangegorman, this Saturday 22nd April
We love our new Grangegorman campus and can’t wait to show it off on Saturday. Here’s some tips to help you get the most from your visit.
1. Do your prep
Plan ahead by: ·
- registering here to make the most of the agenda
- getting a feel for the campus and how you’re going to get here – we are lucky to have lots of public transport options. Download or print out a map, and research check out our social channels and societies
- drafting a couple of questions you need answers to about entry requirements, coursework expectations, employability or any other burning issues, so you don’t forget on the spot
- packing a bag with a few things to set yourself up for success – the agenda, a portable charger or an extra bag for carrying any extra brochures, etc. You could also bring someone else, such as a family member, for a second opinion (parents often love a good nosey).
2. Your top priority: the course
It might be fun to hang with some friends, but the course should be at the top of your list of things to find out about at our open day. The end goal is to work out if it's something you really want to spend the next few years focused on, and if it will offer you the right opportunities. Get it from the horse's mouth – talk to lecturers, our Student Recruitment team, and current students on the course. Make sure you understand exactly what is involved in the course, modules and methods of assessment. We love our new campus but the course is the priority - What will you be doing on a weekly basis, how many hours of lectures, what’s the balance between practice and theory?
3. Follow up and grow your network
Follow up with anyone you met, in person or on social media. Whether they were in Student Recruitment, a lecturer or a fellow student, it could help you get a better feel for our campus. One of the great things about TU Dublin is how passionate our staff are about working here and helping students. You can find us on Tik Tok, Facebook and Instagram, with lots of tips from students and staff. Get in touch and we’ll do our best to answer any questions you have.
4. Know your dates and your CAO preferences
Are you sure where TU Dublin is ranked on your CAO preferences? Lots of students rush through the form to meet the 1 February deadline. Don’t forget you have up to 1 July to make changes and make sure your form reflects what course you really want. Don’t focus on Level 8 courses only – ensure you research Level 6 and 7 courses that you might be interested in to help you find a career you are passionate about.
5. Enjoy!
We are so proud of the state-of-the-art facilities at our Grangegorman campus. From our performance venues, sports facilities and cutting-edge labs and kitchen, we hope you enjoy visiting as much as we enjoy working here.
