A Human Capital Initiative (HCI) funded qualification from TU Dublin is the perfect opportunity to upskill or transform a passion into a career. The University, which has locations across Dublin City, Tallaght and Blanchardstown, is launching five new postgraduate programmes that are free for individuals seeking work, while those in employment or recent graduates pay just 10% of the tuition fee. Commencing in September 2023, these HCI courses are full-time, with a mix of online and in-person classes. TU Dublin also offers 25 Springboard+ courses, typically provided part-time for a maximum duration of 12 months, allowing individuals to continue with their existing commitments.
Two HCI-funded courses, commencing in September 2023, are a Postgraduate Diploma in Brewing and Distilling for those with a Level 8 (NFQ) or higher Degree in Science, Engineering, Food, or Business and an Advanced Entry programme designed for those with previous experience in the industry. Ireland has been a leader in the Brewing and Distilling industry for centuries, with several home-grown brands synonymous with the very fabric of Irish culture. Today the industry is booming, with this new qualification designed to equip Science, Engineering, Food, or Business graduates with the technical skills and business acumen to develop a career in the drinks industry in Ireland or abroad.
Courses funded by Springboard+ or HCI are well known for supporting people eager to return to the workforce, but Sinead O'Neill, TU Dublin's Senior Lifelong Learning Manager, says not many people realise that those in employment can also apply for these programmes and pay just 10% of the cost. "The subsidised nature of these programmes means that they are accessible to a diverse group of people across the economy, and this year, TU Dublin is launching five HCI full-time postgraduate programmes in disciplines identified as of critical importance to the economy in Brewing & Distilling (Advanced Entry), Brewing and Distilling, Digital Design, Cybersecurity, and Sustainable Food Business Operations."
Continuing, Ms O'Neill said, "Courses are free for the unemployed, previously self-employed and returners to the workforce. For others, such as recent graduates, the government funds 90 per cent of the course fee, with participants required to contribute just 10 per cent."
