Europe Day 2023

Celebrating Europe Day with Traditional Irish music recording of the EU Anthem at TU Dublin

Did you know today is Europe Day? This year, it's even more significant as it marks 50 years since Ireland joined the European Union. TU Dublin has strong European links through its involvement in the European University of Technology (EUt+), an alliance of eight technological universities across Europe and draws on the strengths of each of its partners to create the technological university of the future.

To mark this special occasion, musicians at TU Dublin Conservatoire present a traditional Irish version of the EU anthem, Ode to Joy. This is the first time a traditional Irish music version of the anthem was recorded, despite many versions and styles available on official EU channels. It also celebrates TU Dublin Conservatoire's unique offerings in terms of its Traditional Irish Music stream and the East Quad, a new Cultural Hub for Dublin City.
