TU Dublin Film and Broadcasting Students Wins Major Media Awards
Recipients of the annual SMEDIA awards for student journalism were announced last month, with TU Dublin Film and Broadcasting student Katie Hackett winning two awards
For the 22nd year in a row, the 2022 National Student Media Award celebrated students' best in journalism, photography, film, TV, and radio, with TU Dublin winning two awards this year.
Final-year Film and Broadcasting student Katie Hackett won the Radio Documentary of the Year and Podcast of the Year for her documentary Pressing Pause: A Six Month Adventure on the Great Blasket Island. The piece follows the journey of Lesley Kehoe and Gordon Bond, who embarked on a six-month stint as caretakers for the remote Great Blasket Island off the coast of Kerry. Altogether, the School of Media received four nominations:

- Podcast of the Year - Katie Hackett (Film & Broadcasting)

- Radio Production of the Year - Arts and Features - Katie Hackett (Film & Broadcasting)
