TU Dublin Events to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in Craft Apprenticeships
TU Dublin Access to Apprenticeship Programme is hosting many events to promote diversity and inclusion in craft apprenticeships in celebration of International Women's Day.
Try a Trade for Young women
On Thursday, 10 March, we will welcome 32 women to our Linenhall / Bolton Street workshops for our 'Try a Trade' Day for Young Women. Participants will participate in fun, interactive workshops in Plumbing and Wood Manufacturing and meet with current female Access to Apprenticeship students and trade professionals. This engaging hands-on experience will include information on career paths in craft apprenticeships and encourage participants to appreciate that skills education and training offers real choices for the future. Register for your place here.
Women Building the Future Network Lunch
On Friday, 11 March, the Access to Apprenticeship Programme will host a Women Building the Future Network Lunch. This event supports female Access to Apprenticeship students and graduates now in apprenticeship to meet and network with other female apprentices and women working in the construction, engineering, electrical and transport industries.
The TU Dublin Access to Apprenticeship Programme has progressed 83 young people into craft apprenticeships, and 16% are female. Year on year, more talented women who want to explore craft apprenticeships are applying to the programme, with female participation growing from 4% in 2018 to 29% in 2021.
