TU Dublin Sports facilities win ‘Outstanding’ Quality Awards
TU Dublin Sports Facilities at Grangegorman and Broombridge have won top National Quality Standard (NQS) awards from Ireland Active, the national governing body for Sports and Leisure Facilities.
Following the NQS Audit in December, both facilities received the “Outstanding Award”, the highest possible accolade. The audit involves a thorough analysis of human resources, customer services, training, safety procedures and hygiene at the sports facility. Particular emphasis for this year’s audit was placed on the measures introduced as a result of Covid 19, and the Outstanding Award recognised the comprehensive new safety procedures put in place by the TU Dublin Sports & Fitness Team.
This is the third time in four years that TU Dublin facilities achieved the top awards as part of this audit process, ranking them in the top 10% in the country.
Throughout the pandemic, TU Dublin Sport has continued to operate with online fitness classes since April 2020. Outdoor sports facilities were open to the local community from August to December 2020, with indoor facilities open for a period during September and October also. Closed since the imposition of Level 5 restrictions, the team behind the award-winning facilities are ready to reopen as soon as that is permitted to happen.
A delighted John Carroll, Sports Facilities & Development Manager, said, “A special thanks goes out to all the members of the sports facilities team that prepared our facilities for this audit in extremely challenging times. We would also like to extend a thank you to all our users - student, staff and community - and we appreciate all of their patience during this uncertain time.”
