Film by TU Dublin Lecturer Tom Cosgrave Selected for the 33rd Galway Film Fleadh
Hillwalkers, produced and crewed by Film and Television students on the BA, Media Arts degree in TU Dublin, and written and directed by one of the course lecturers, Tom Cosgrove, has followed a successful international festival run with an official selection to the 33rd Galway Film Fleadh.
The film was produced as a response to lockdown when so many students missed out on making their graduation films. It was predominantly filmed outdoors in the Dublin mountains, often in terrible weather conditions. Students showed outstanding commitment and resourcefulness in their determination to make the film happen, even going to such incredible lengths as camping overnight to safeguard the remote mountain set.
Among the many past and present students who led the production were - Ama Addo, Niall Reynolds (producers), Ruairi O’Hoisin (Cinematography), Ghail Protacio (Costume design), and Sofia Gonzales and Elizabeth Adewusi (Art department). The film, which was independently funded will screen at the fleadh, and participate in the marketplace from July 20th – 25th.
