TU Dublin President encourages Leaving Cert students to keep their focus and optimism
TU Dublin is very aware of the uncertainty students preparing to sit their Leaving Cert exams have been experiencing since the suspension of face to face teaching in their schools. We welcome the clarification provided in the last few days by the Minister for Education and Skills.
While exact dates cannot be confirmed as yet, it is now clear that the exams will go ahead and therefore the Class of 2020 will be able to make plans for their future directions.
Speaking to all of those students who have expressed a preference to study in TU Dublin in the coming year, the President, Professor David FitzPatrick said he would encourage them to keep their focus and their sense of optimism and ambition. “The next couple of months will not be easy but with guidance from your teachers and support from your families, you will achieve your goals. If my colleagues in TU Dublin can be of any assistance to you, please make contact with us.”
Professor FitzPatrick said colleagues across the University are ready to respond to the changed timing for the Leaving Certificate and will ensure that the offer process runs quickly and smoothly. He added that the University is also working with partners in Further Education, mature applicants and those seeking advanced entry to ensure that their applications are processed speedily.
“It is our clear objective to ensure that the new academic year will get underway as soon as possible, while recognising that we may need to adapt to continuing restrictions to protect everyone’s health and well being."
