Fellows will share their knowledge and expand their expertise in a variety of ways, including through research and scholarship, both nationally and internationally.
Speaking about his award, Dr Barry Ryan said, "I am honoured, and humbled, to receive a National Forum Teaching and Learning Research Fellowship which recognises my contribution to the enhancement of teaching and learning through research, scholarship and practice. As part of the inaugural Fellowship cohort, I am proud to be part of a new community that will inform and support the Higher Education sector. This community is founded on individual excellence but will be sustained by strategic scholarship and collaborative impact.
Making the announcement on Tuesday, Dr Terry Maguire, Director of the National Forum, said: “The National Forum warmly congratulates its first Teaching and Learning Research Fellows. The introduction of the Fellowships and the calibre of candidates they attracted on their inaugural outing highlight the critical influence teaching and learning increasingly has in Irish higher education. Fellows will work together and with the National Forum on projects of sectoral importance, bringing a new dimension to the research-led teaching and learning culture in Irish higher education and contributing to a robust evidence base for future teaching and learning enhancement decision-making across the sector. As individual awards, they complement the National Forum team award, the Disciplinary Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Assessment (DELTA) Award.”
