TU Dublin welcomes today’s funding announcement by Ministers McHugh and Mitchell O’Connor
TU Dublin has welcomed today’s announcement by Ministers McHugh and Mitchell O’Connor of landscape funding to support the further development of technological universities in Ireland.
President of TU Dublin, Professor David FitzPatrick said the funding not only recognises the significance of technological universities as part of the Irish higher education landscape but also the need to empower their development.
Professor FitzPatrick said, “ In the funding submission we made to the Department of Education and Skills, TU Dublin outlined a number of projects that will be critical to enabling us, as Ireland’s first Technological University, to develop and to compete globally. We welcome today’s announcement that €3.8 million will be made available to enable us to lay strong foundations for us to fulfil our potential.”
Professor FitzPatrick said the it was extremely positive that Minister Mitchell O’Connor had previously announced as part of Budget 2020 that further funding of €90 million will be made available over a three year period for the development of the TU sector as a whole.
