TU Dublin confers awards in Leadership in Intercultural Communities
On Thursday 21 November, TU Dublin conferred the award of Certificate in Leadership in Intercultural Communities to 41 graduates at a ceremony held at the Blanchardstown Campus.
This Level 6 Special Purpose Award commenced in September 2018 and came out of consultation with communities in Fingal with the aim of addressing the needs of an increasingly diverse population. The programme, which received funding from Fingal County Council, was developed with input from Dr Liam McGlynn, Dr Bríd Ní Chonaill, Dr Lavinia McLean and Dr Pat O’Connor from the School of Humanities at TU Dublin Blanchardstown. TU Dublin worked with Empower a local development company based in Fingal and Partners Training for Transformation on the certificate.
With a clear link to the recently launched Migrant Inclusion and Social Cohesion Strategy 2019 – 2024, the programme placed particular focus on new migrant communities and hard to reach communities such as Travellers and Roma. Participants came from across the spectrum in North County Dublin and Tyrellstown, Dublin 15.
The programme has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on the participants and their communities.
