Celebrating #ErasmusDays2019
TU Dublin celebrated #ErasmusDays2019 this week by hearing about three novel Engineering Education Projects which are funded through Erasmus+ under the CREATE research group in TU Dublin.
A-STEP 2030 (Attracting diverSe Talent to the Engineering Professions of 2030)

The objective of this project is to create new and innovative teaching approaches relevant to learners’ personal values and appropriate to teach a new set of skills critical to the attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Our goal is to create an attractive and fascinating learning environment, thereby encouraging young people with diverse backgrounds to engage in engineering studies and the profession as a whole.
PREFER - Professional Roles and Employability of Future EngineeRs

The PREFER project aims to reduce the skills mismatch in the field of engineering. Young engineering graduates often display a lack of self-awareness of who they are as an engineer. The PREFER project aims to help engineering students/graduates with identifying their relative strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, we want to provide them with opportunities to actively explore the wide variety of engineering roles in the labour market.

Mathematics is an essential part of any engineering degrees, and it is a tool that engineers still use throughout his or her life. We propose the ‘New Rules for assessing Mathematical Competencies’ project to change the educational paradigm and to get a common European teaching and learning system based on competencies rather than contents.
