Dr Ziga Ude is an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Chemical and BioPharmaceutical Sciences, Technological University Dublin where his teaching focuses on inorganic and medicinal chemistry.
His primary research pursuits lie in the realm of bioinorganic chemistry, with a specific focus on pioneering multi-functional metallodrug candidates. These candidates aim to surmount the limitations inherent in conventional drugs widely employed in global clinical practices, whilst addressing the challenges posed by cancer and antimicrobial resistance.
Ziga has obtained his BSc (Hons) in Chemistry (2011) from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. During his undergraduate studies he decided to complete Erasmus Internship at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin where he afterwards got awarded a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (2016). After working as a Process Development Chemist in Astellas LTD, Ziga returned to academia and conducted research in University College Dublin, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and Maynooth University.
