Bio

Dr. Leo Clarke is an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences where he is presently teaching Organic Chemistry. Prior to taking up employment at Technological University Dublin, he worked for almost 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry as an employee of Hoffmann-La Roche, Syntex Corporation and Iropharm Limited. His experience in pharma has seen him work in a variety of areas within the industry including internal and external technology transfers, API process development, process research and process troubleshooting as both a Subject Matter Expert and as a member of a wider Technical Services team.

Leo is a graduate of University College Dublin where he obtained a BSc and PhD in Organic Chemistry. He completed post-doctoral research at Philipps-Universitἄt, Marburg, Germany and is more recently a graduate of Technological University Dublin with a BSc in Process Technologies.

His areas of interest include the synthesis of organic medicinal products and Physical Organic Chemistry. He retains an interest in industrial practices such as Operational Excellence through Lean Methodologies and the application of Green Chemistry.
