Bio
Dr Cora O’Donnell is a Lecturer in the School of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences teaching all undergraduate years including specialised modules in Advanced Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Forensic Analysis. Prior to joining TU Dublin, Cora worked in a number of roles in Pharmaceutical R&D, both in the US and Ireland; as a Senior Research Scientist in Wyeth (now Pfizer) in New York and as a Senior Scientist and Section Head in Elan Pharmaceuticals.
Cora's expertise includes the application of advanced chromatographic techniques and microscopy including SEM/EDX to analytical, forensic and pharmaceutical problems. Her research interests focus on the use of advanced separation and characterisation techniques to enable the detection and identification of new psychoactive substances; identification and quantification of illicit drugs and pharmaceutical residues and the application of microscopy and microanalysis in pharmaceutical and forensic characterisation. Her research work includes successful collaborations with Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
