Siofra qualified as an Optometrist in 1989 obtaining a honours 2.1 diploma from the DIT.

1993-1998 | Worked 3 days per week in Practise and 3 days per week working as a domiciliary optometrist. The Domiciliary work was very varied, working with adults and children, with severe learning difficulties, living in residential care. Also worked in homes for the elderly, prisons, ethic communities, drop in centres and disadvantaged schools. It was while working in the UK Siofra first became very interested in Paediatric optometry and attended many courses run by the British College of Optometrists. While in practice, supervised Optometry students during their pre-registration year, 6 in total. |

2005 | Completed a Diploma in Sport Vision. As part of this study completed research, which involved establishing a protocol for the measurement of the dominant eye in very young children. The results of which were published in the Sport vision journal in April 2006. In March 2006 presented the results of this research at the Sport Vision AGM in Loughborough University |
