Experts from top European Universities gathered in TU Dublin for the MSCA DN-JD SENNET kick-off meeting, May 8-12th ,2023. The project is coordinated by KU Leuven and involves researchers from nine universities and seven associated partner organizations from eight countries. A growing group of SENNET PhD students and their supervisors were welcomed by Prof. Izabela Naydenova, Head of Physics and Clinical Measurement Science and Dr Suzanne Martin, IEO Centre Manager. It was a week full of practical workshops and social events, followed by inspiring invited talks on the latest developments in gas sensors research and markets, and in air quality control. The meeting offered an excellent opportunity for all members to meet and discuss next collaboration steps.

The SENNET Project - Porous Networks for Gas Sensing - aims to develop new, miniaturised, highly sensitive and selective detectors for monitoring volatile organic compounds in indoor environment. It connects experienced researchers with multidisciplinary background and creates a bridge between chemical nano-MOFs/zeolites synthesis and characterisation and the application of those materials into sensing devices. IEO contribution to the SENNET project is on development of holographic sensor arrays for VOCs monitoring in ambient air. This work will be carried out by Aleksandra Hernik, under the co-supervision of Prof. Naydenova, TU Dublin and Prof. Ameloot, KU Leuven (SENNET project coordinator).
