FIOLS 2024 – Jorge Lasarte Sanz
I recently participated at the Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science (FIOLS) 2024 conference in Denver, US. While it’s true that I gained valuable insights into cutting-edge research in optics, laser science, and photonics, the most important for me was the connections I managed to make there. I had the luck to encounter many of my fellow Optica chapter members from all across the world, with whom I experienced both the technical and social aspects that the conference had to offer. It was truly a unique chance to engage with top scientists, participate in discussions on ground breaking technologies and share part of my research.
Thanks to Optica for make such a great event, to my research group IEO and to SFI for funding it, making it all possible.
FOILS 2024 & Optica Student Leadership 2024 – Matt Hellis
I was honoured to be selected as part of a 100-member cohort from around the world to attend the Optica Student Leadership Conference and the Frontiers in Optics and Laser Science (FIOLS) conference in Denver, Colorado, USA. This remarkable event provided numerous opportunities to engage with leaders in the field of optics and to enhance my leadership skills. The combination of both events offered a wealth of experiences, from gaining inspiration from esteemed speakers to sharing my research and discussing cutting-edge advancements in optical technologies. I also formed valuable connections and friendships, which I look forward to nurturing at future events across the globe.
