STEM Workshop
Last Friday, 08 March, we had the privilege to participate in the Inspiring the Future STEM workshops event organised by Patricia Owens and her colleagues from the TU Dublin Access and Outreach Office, where we welcomed secondary school students from St. Aidan’s Community School, St Mark’s Community School, and Colaiste Pobal Fola.
At the School of Food Science and Environmental Health, Dr Tao Zhang led an engaging workshop "Food Science - Exploring Biodiversity in Nutraceutical Products." This experience provided students with hands-on exploration into the fascinating world of biodiversity and its impact on nutraceutical products, sparking the students' curiosity and understanding of biodiversity, nutraceuticals, quality and quality control.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our final year BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Healthcare (TU875) students, Merin Jose and Ben Singleton, for their enthusiastic participation in enriching the workshop. Also, a big thank you to our dedicated laboratory technicians, Noel Grace and Gisele De Campos Pinto, whose unwavering support was invaluable.
In total, four STEM workshops were organised across the School of Food Science and Environmental Health, School of Chemical and BioPharmaceutical Sciences, and School of Physics, Clinical, and Optometric Sciences.
