Published: 27 Nov, 2024

On 21st November 2024, the PharmTech Mobility Project officially launched with a two-day kick-off meeting hosted at TU Dublin’s Grangegorman campus. This EU-funded Erasmus+ initiative, PharmTech Mobility: Enhancing European Pharmacy Technician Exchange and Mobility, is led by the Pharmacy Technician Programme Team at TU Dublin: Dr Tao Zhang, Dr Seána Hogan, Dr Gemma Kinsella, and Prof Christine O’Connor, the Faculty Head of Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Sciences and Health.

The project brings together a collaborative partnership comprising TU Dublin (Ireland), the European Association of Pharmacy Technicians (Belgium), and Formación Profesional Colegio Tres Olivos (Spain). Together, the partners aim to transform pharmacy technician education across Europe by:

🔹 Developing a harmonised educational framework for pharmacy technicians.
🔹 Facilitating mobility opportunities for students and professionals.
🔹 Engaging stakeholders to promote adoption and deliver meaningful impact.

Special thanks to both internal and external stakeholders who attended and actively contributed to the discussions: Dr Catriona Bradley, Executive Director of the Irish Institute of Pharmacy; Nicole O’Neill, Education Innovation Manager at TU Dublin; and our internal colleagues from the School of Food Science and Environmental Health: Dr Julie Dunne, Mary-Therese McGrath, and Dr Furong Tian. Their insights and expertise enriched the dialogue and were critical in shaping the project's direction.

This ambitious project exemplifies TU Dublin’s commitment to advancing professional education and fostering international collaboration. It is anticipated to deliver substantial value to pharmacy technician education and the profession, equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

We extend our sincere thanks to the project collaborators for their expertise, dedication, and collaborative spirit, including Cristiano Matos, Isabel Elguero Claramunt, Ângelo Jesus, João José Joaquim, M. Jesús Aparicio Cabezas, Antonio Rodrigo Díaz, and Alejandra Reyes Moreno.
