Henan University visit December 2024
From 7-9th of December 2024, Dr Julie Dunne, Head of School of Food Science and Environmental Health, Dr Furong Tian, Lecturer, School of Food Science and Environmental Health and Prof Christine O’Connor, Head of Research and Innovation, Faculty of Sciences and Health were invited to speak at the International Conference in Nanomedicine and Nanobiotechnology, New Century Hotel, Kaifeng, China. The invitation came from Prof Cui, Vice President of Henan University and Prof Guo, Deputy Dean of the Henan Medical School. Henan University in Kaifeng has 60,000 students with 45,000 students living on campus. The research community of Henan University are looking to collaborate with international partners to build capacity of PhD students.
Following the conference the TU Dublin Academics were given a Tour of Henan University campus, tour of Functionalised materials research lab and a tour of the School of Medicine research labs, including the clean room facility.
On the 9th of December TU Dublin Academics had a meeting at the first affiliation hospital of Henan University with the Management of Henan University. The discussion focussed on the practicalities of co-supervision of research across TU Dublin and Henan University. TU Dublin has a MOU in place with Henan University to encourage the co-supervision of PhD students.
